Thermionic gallery - exhibited with Newcastle Gallery Collective 2015

These paintings and drawings were exhibited with Newcastle Gallery Collective in 2015. The galleries were Nanshe Studio Gallery, Newcastle Art Space, Four Point Gallery and Cstudios.

The works are based on thermionic valves or electron tubes and their parts. These forms derive from grids, diodes, filaments and other metal parts of these electronic devices. I am fascinated by simple metal forms with complex physical properties. I have a deep admiration for those who explored magnetism and electricity and discovered its properties through experimentation and deep thought.

In the paintings and drawings I try to find analogous forms and feelings. These are neither technically sound nor accurate renditions of these forms but evolve in the painter’s world of colour, paint, line, surface and the stuff of art.
